What Cancer means to me...... In December 1989 I lost my grandmother (my mom's mother) whom I was very close to due to ovarian cancer. In March of 1993 I lost my grandfather (my mom's father) to lung cancer. In November of 2005 my father was diagnosed with stomach cancer, although he fought his battle and remains in remission for the past 2 years. My aunt (my mom's sister) whom I was also very close to did not win her battle and we lost her to lung cancer in January 2007. In July of 2007 one of my best friends lost her sister, Tina Margtinetti and her mother the year before that, I pray everyday for her and my mother who swears that if feels like it was yesterday that they spoke on the phone, went shopping, had dinner together or JUST sat down and had a great talk full of laughter and tears. What cancer means to me remains unexplainable because the loss behind it is so great that I cannot begin to understand or relate to how my mom, my aunts, my uncles, my cousins and my best friend feels for such a loss. I have come to realize that there are things in life we cannot control or explain, but there are things we can do to contribute to the cure. I have joined this team (walkin Ravioli's) because I would like to contribute to finding a cure so that together we can one day make a difference.
